Frequently Asked Questions

Are pressed metal number plates road legal in the UK?

Yes — our pressed metal and 3D aluminium number plates are fully road legal in the UK when displayed correctly. They comply with BS AU 145e, the current British Standard for number plates, and meet DVSA requirements. As long as your plate displays the correct registration, you're good to go.

What is the difference between 3D and 4D number plates?

Our plates are 3D pressed aluminium — the characters are physically embossed into the metal, giving a raised, tactile finish that is both premium and durable. 4D plates typically use acrylic gel or laser-cut letters bonded to a flat plate. Our pressed metal construction is more robust, weather-resistant, and gives a classic, authentic look.

Are your plates BS AU 145e compliant?

Yes. All our number plates are manufactured to comply with BS AU 145e, the British Standard that governs the construction, materials, and legibility of vehicle number plates in the UK. We also reference ISO 7591 and DIN 74069 standards where applicable.

How do I fit my number plates?

Our plates come with pre-drilled holes and can be fitted using standard number plate screws, or for a clean screw-free finish, we recommend our specially formulated fitting pads. Unlike standard adhesive pads, ours are engineered to handle the additional weight of pressed metal plates, providing a secure, long-lasting bond. Simply align the plate with your vehicle and press firmly — no specialist tools required.

Can I use pressed metal plates on any vehicle?

Yes — our plates are suitable for cars, vans, motorcycles, and classic vehicles. They are available in standard UK sizes as well as 460mm, 400mm and 340mm and can be ordered as a front and rear pair.

How long does delivery take?

We aim to dispatch all orders within 1–2 working days. Standard UK delivery typically takes 2–3 working days after dispatch. Express options are available including next day delivery — check at checkout for current delivery options and timescales.

Do your plates come as a pair (front and rear)?

Yes — our plates are sold as a front and rear pair. The front plate is white and the rear plate is yellow, as required by UK law. Both plates are pressed from the same high-quality aluminium and finished to the same standard.

What emblem options are available?

We offer a range of emblem designs including the GB Union Flag, England, Scotland, Wales, and other country flag options. All of which are fully legal and compliant to the strict rule set by the DVSA.

Can I get a borderless or flush-fit plate?

Yes — we offer both standard and borderless flush-fit styles. Borderless plates give a cleaner, more modern look and are popular on prestige and performance vehicles. Check our product listings for the full range of styles available.
